Shipping & Delivery Policy

At Alder & Rose, we treat every dispatch with the same care we apply to the garments themselves. This policy sets out how we process, pack and ship orders placed at alderandrose.shop, the carriers we work with, the timescales you may expect, and your statutory rights under English law. It is operated by MV EDUCATION LTD (trading as Alder & Rose), a company registered in England and Wales under Companies House number 17028593, with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ. At a glance

  • Orders placed before 13:00 GMT/BST on a working day are dispatched within 1–2 working days.
  • Free UK Standard delivery on all orders over £150; otherwise £8.
  • International shipping to the EU, Switzerland, Norway, the United States, Canada and the Rest of World, with full tracking.
  • All orders above £250 require a signature on delivery.
  • Risk transfers to you on delivery, in accordance with section 29 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Order processing time

We aim to dispatch every order within 1 to 2 working days of payment authorisation. Orders received before 13:00 GMT/BST on a working day enter the same day’s dispatch run; orders received after the cut-off, on weekends or on public holidays are processed on the next working day.

A “working day” means Monday to Friday, excluding bank and public holidays observed in England and Wales. Pre-orders, back-orders and bespoke alterations are dispatched on the date displayed on the relevant product page; if that date changes, we will notify you by email and you may cancel for a full refund at any time.

Shipping options, rates and estimated transit times

The table below summarises the services available at checkout. Estimated transit times begin once the parcel has been collected by the carrier and are working days only.

Every parcel travels with end-to-end tracking. As soon as the carrier scans the consignment, you will receive a dispatch email containing the tracking number and a direct link to the carrier’s portal.

Delivery confirmation and signature

Standard UK and international parcels are delivered against a carrier scan, photograph or proof-of-delivery record. Any order valued at £250 or more is dispatched on a signature-on-delivery service; an adult at the delivery address must sign for the parcel. If no one is available, the carrier will leave a card and attempt redelivery in line with its local procedure.

Address accuracy and amendments

It is your responsibility to provide a complete, accurate and currently occupied delivery address at checkout, including any building number, flat or apartment reference. We may delay or cancel an order where the address is incomplete, ambiguous or fails carrier validation, and we will contact you to request clarification before doing so.

We are unable to ship to PO Boxes or BFPO addresses. If you need to amend a delivery address, please email contact@alderandrose.shop as soon as possible. We will do our best to honour the change, but amendments are only possible before dispatch and are not always guaranteed once the parcel has been picked.

Failed and undeliverable parcels

If a parcel is returned to us because it was unclaimed, refused, repeatedly missed or sent to an incorrect address supplied at checkout, we will contact you on receipt. You may either:

  • request a re-dispatch, in which case the original outbound and any return-trip carriage costs are payable by you; or
  • request a refund, in which case we will refund the price of the goods less the return-trip shipping cost charged by the carrier.

Lost parcels

If your tracking has not updated for an unusual period, please contact us within 30 days of the estimated delivery date. We will open an investigation with the carrier, which can take up to 14 days to conclude. Once the parcel is formally declared lost, we will, at your option, re-ship the order or issue a full refund in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Damage in transit

Please inspect your parcel on arrival. If the outer packaging or the goods inside are damaged, photograph the box, the packing materials and the affected items, and email the images to contact@alderandrose.shop within 48 hours of delivery. We will arrange a replacement, repair or refund as appropriate. See our Refund Policy and Returns & Exchanges for further detail.

Customs, duties and import VAT

Orders shipped outside the United Kingdom may be subject to import duties, taxes and clearance fees levied by the destination country. These charges are the recipient’s responsibility and are not included in the price you pay at checkout, save where expressly stated.

  • European Union: consignments with an intrinsic value of €150 or less are processed under the IOSS scheme where we are registered, and EU import VAT is collected at checkout. Consignments above €150 will incur duty and import VAT on arrival.
  • United States: consignments with a value at or below USD 800 are typically eligible for Section 321 de minimis entry; higher-value parcels may incur duty.
  • Switzerland, Norway, Canada & Rest of World: import VAT, GST/HST and duties are charged according to local thresholds and are payable to the carrier or the local customs authority on arrival.

Alder & Rose will never under-declare the value of a shipment or mark goods as a gift.

Restricted destinations and sanctions

We comply fully with United Kingdom financial sanctions administered by the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) and with the equivalent regimes of the European Union, the United States, the United Nations and other competent authorities. We will not process or dispatch orders to jurisdictions, individuals or entities subject to applicable sanctions, and any such order will be cancelled and refunded in full.

Risk and title

In line with section 29 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the goods are at our risk until they come into your physical possession or that of a person identified by you to take delivery. Title in the goods passes to you on full payment.

Multiple-package shipments

Larger orders, or orders combining items dispatched from different stockrooms, may travel in more than one parcel and may arrive on different days. Each parcel will have its own tracking reference and dispatch email.

Pre-orders and back-orders

Items available on a pre-order or back-order basis are clearly flagged on the relevant product page, together with the indicative dispatch window. We charge in full at the time of order to reserve stock; you may cancel a pre-order at any time before dispatch for a full refund.

Delivery times are estimates

All transit windows quoted on this page and at checkout are good-faith estimates and are not guaranteed. Where goods have not been delivered within 30 days of the contract date, you have the right to a full refund under regulation 42 of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

Seasonal and peak-period notices

During peak retail periods such as Black Friday, Cyber Week, the Christmas season and the January sales, carriers experience higher volumes and transit times may extend by 1–3 working days. We publish updated cut-off dates on the homepage and in the announcement bar in the run-up to each peak window. Adverse weather, industrial action and other events outside our reasonable control may also affect delivery.

Packaging and environmental responsibility

We pack with recyclable corrugated board, FSC-certified tissue and paper void-fill in place of plastic where possible. We consolidate consignments to reduce the number of vehicle movements and we choose carbon-aware courier services on routes where they are operationally available.
